Wood's Lake is a Forest Service in the El Dorado National
Forest, East of Kirkwood Ski Resort. It's pretty remote, has only water and
pit toilets, and the roads getting in make it unsuitable for most RV's and
campers -- but it's great for tents. It is only open for a few months out
of the year. It's at 8200 feet elevation, so snow stays late and arrives early,
which keeps the camping season short.
Sierra Fall colors on the Carson River, near the Junction of Highways 88
and 89 in Hope Valey
Meadow at the top of Luther Pass on Highway 89 south of Myers. We take the
dogs snowhoeing here in the winter, I think this is the first time we've been
up there without snow.
