The Wiskey Trail

We did a trappist beer tour in Belgium, so it only makes sense that we do a whiskey tour in Scotland. Just FYI, whiskey tasting is considerably more punishing than either beer testing or wine tasting...

From Aberfeldy, we hit the Aberfeldy and Dalwhinnie Distillerys, which are highland distillerys. The rest of the distilleries we hit in this section are all "Speyside" distilleries, that is, they are all aong the river Spey.

In addition to the whiskey, we saw a lot of scenery, saw some castle ruins, and ended up staying at a hotel in Lossiemouth. Lossiemouth gets its name because it is at the mouth of the Lossie river -- so it's not just a clever name. The Lossie empties into the North Sea -- we saw a couple of brave souls in thick wetsuits surfing at the mouth of the river. We also met a few fellow Americans, Navy P-3 specialists working with the RAF at a nearby airbase. Let's just say that it was a long night of drinking...

This is kind of how we felt after hanging out with the Navy guys...
